Shreveport municipal auditorium section 21012/28/2023 With enough space to comfortably seat 60 people, the venue is great for all kinds of activities. The original decorative tin-tile ceiling, turquoise cement floor, and exposed brick walls all come together to create a beautiful venue. The building is a unique environment for wedding receptions and other special events.īuilt in 1927, the building that houses the Agora Borealis is an amazing historical location and is a well-known spot in the area. In the expansive lobby area, huge windows and giant chandeliers fill the space with light, and the carved maple and mahogany wood doors and trim remain. More recently known as the Antique & Classic Car Museum, the former automobile dealership is now home to Prevot Design Services APAC, a full-service architecture, planning and interior design firm and 601 Spring, an event center. Historically this building means a lot to the Southern Shreveport hospitality as history and architecture, now.disregard my view if I am not correct! This place needs and deserves now more acceptance and more arrangements, not only as a historical mark listed on tourist booklet. Yes, in the past it has been concerted by stars as Elvis, Hanks Williams, Burton, etc, but now.eventually it may be rented for college graduation or something else. The beautiful interior is ready for the next concert. Nice interior, well maintain and ready to go for the next performance (here we go, step back outside and read the name of the street.yes the King of rock was performing here almost 60 years ago).who knows when again. a wonderful 85 years old building, historical to you and all of us living here. Good luck to you and find door open to you! What you shell see (if open) inside is. Park and approach the building thinking "Hmm let me see what is inside". Hmm, let me drive on Texas Ave, and shortly after you leave downtown Shreveport you see the street "Elvis Presley", you take right and a brick building on your right inside is name as Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. ![]() Having your GPS on your car/smart phone you suddenly see "Elvis Presley." name, then Shreveport Municipal Auditorium pops on your screen. You have been reading what to see in town, and what activities you may enjoy (if you are in a right season) while having a variety of Southern cousin-art hospitality. You have chose to stop by in Shreveport on your way from let say Midwest to New Orleans or traveling from East to West and vice verse on I-10. This is still a great place to see a show, just be choosy where you sit! No problems with the bathrooms, but we did visit before we went upstairs. There were signs everywhere about no photos or videos, but of course there were people taking pictures right and left, and we never saw that rule being enforced. I'm glad we didn't go to the concession stand, since there would have been no place put stuff where we were. The people in the row behind us seemed to have more room, and there was a lot more space downstairs - even a few cafe tables set up around the perimeter, providing a place to set a drink or a snack. There was none in that first row of the lower balcony! We are not extremely large people, but there was not enough room for us to even cross our legs. Unfortunately, we are too far out of town for this.Īnother issue was legroom. My advice here is to buy local, since you probably would not pay all the extra fees. These were $25 seats that morphed into almost $80 for two seats purchased from Ticketmaster. Sound and line of sight were great, as we were on the front row in the lower balcony. It's amazing to think of all the great artists who have graced this hall. ![]() We went to the Nick Cave "As Is" performance art show, and this was a great venue for a performance art piece.
